About the event
Thank you for your interest in this online vaad (study group) through the Inside Out Wisdom and Action Project. This vaad will be facilitated by Rabbi Lauren Tuchman and is open to anyone interested in deepening their Jewish spiritual practice as a crucial part of their social change work in the world.
Over the course of 4 sessions, the class will explore questions such as: What's the relationship between individual and systemic
change? How can you stay grounded for the long haul that both kinds of change require? What kind of change work are you called to do in this world? How can you show up as your best self while doing the work?
Through personal and small group reflection, text study and practice, we will explore the topics of motivation, choice, gratitude and rest. Together, we will begin to cultivate a rich personal spiritual practice and explore how we might integrate that with our work for communal and social change. The Jewish spiritual and contemplative practices we will be exploring in this class stem from Mussar, or Jewish spiritual and ethical growth, and Chasidut. No background in either is necessary. The core text for our course will be Rabbi David Jaffe's book, Changing The World From The Inside Out, and a hard copy of that text is included in the registration fee.
The group will meet on Zoom for 4 sessions: August 5, 12, 19 and 26. All sessions will be 7pm-8:30pm (EST). Registrants will have access to a recording of the session.
